Teaching Principles and Strategies

Principles

1

Foster an interdependent studio where each student is mentored in their talents, dreams and goals at a pace commensurate with their level and rate of development.

2

Inspire by example by continuing to grow and develop musically, professionally  and personally.

3

Build technical and musical skills  for unconscious competence and integrated musicianship.

4

Extend the position of students as mere consumers of music to that of being able to analyze how music works, and then as inventors, apply theory creatively in interpreting, composing and improvising music.
