Active Intentions Workshop

Singing or playing and instrument involves both the science of technique and the art of interpretation. Interpretation comes from the artist's inner dialogue with the material they are performing. This inner dialogue can be strengthened and enriched by clarifying the active intention behind an utterance. These lists of active verbs from The Actor's Thesaurus can refine your performance choice until you hit exactly the right action to help each musical phrase come alive. These verbs will automatically draw on your vast memory of feelings, and experiences so that you are playing or singing from your authentic self. Your audience will love it!
